Product Description
30 OZ, Glass Hummingbird Feeder, Our Best With 6 Flower Feeding Stations & Removable Full Circle Perch.

Amazon.com Review
There are more than 300 species of hummingbird in the Western Hemisphere, and, with this hummingbird feeder, you're bound to see at least a couple of them at your window. Perky Pet's 30-ounce hardened-glass feeder is the largest model and features six easy-feeding flowers, a no-drip feeder base, and bee guards. This model is the only Perky Pet hummingbird feeder with a detachable full-circle perch. The feeder is easy to fill and clean, and comes with a one-year warranty.

4 out of 5 stars This feeder is great.   July 25, 2010
TRid
I bought 2 of these feeders because I have been overrun by Hummingbirds here in Middle TN for the last 2 years. I have been going through 6 to 8 cups of soloution a day during peak months, July, August and well in to September. I also bought 2 of the Trap-it ant moats and they came in handy. The only reason I gave the 209 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are a little hard to clean. Still looking for a bottle brush long enough to reach all the way to the bottom through the narrow opening.

5 out of 5 stars Great feeder   July 22, 2010

We have had one of these feeders for several years and we and the hummers liked it so much we recently bought two more. They are not available in most stores so were pleased to find them here and at a good price.

1 out of 5 stars Not pleased...   July 16, 2010

The hook on the cap is flimsy and the first week we had it the hook broke!

5 out of 5 stars Great Product & Price   July 9, 2010
Kay Lee (Atlanta, GA USA)
I needed a larger feeder and I prefer the glass; holds up better in the weather and easier to clean. This is the perfect size, holders almost 4 cups so I don't have to refill everyday. I can monitor the amount in the feeder from a distance. At this price($13) I could not have found it cheaper and delivered to my door to boot. I love this feeder!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent design and great value   June 28, 2010
J. W. Kennedy (Sewell, NJ USA)
I bought 2 of these to replace 2 older Perky Pet, 4 flower models. The old 4 flower model has a design flaw which sometimes led to dripping and also attracted ants and wasps. The bottle is large but the plastic bottom holds a lot of fluid as well. It is over-sized for our needs, so I just fill it with less food. Perky Pet should consider creating a new model based on this design but smaller.

If I had a complaint, it would be with the wire for hanging the feeder. A great solution for me was using a wire coat hanger and with pliers, fashioned a loop at one end and making a square shape after passing the wire through the hole in the feeder top. It works great, the wire is the perfect diameter for the hole in the feeder and very strong for windy days!

I should mention the packaging is poorly done but it wasn't a problem for me. I can imagine a case of these in a store sitting on a shelf, with customers reaching for a box could easily result in a few being broken, as the glass bottle can easily come out of the box.

The price is excellent, highly recommended.

Update 7-7-2010, Just bought my 3rd...

Lose the Plumber. Fix Your Garbage Disposal and Save $180

25 Jul 2010 at 10:10am

We love our favorite plumber but only when we really need to call them. Garbage disposals are the kitchen's workhorse but love to quit at the most inopportune times and many times you can repair or replace the disposal yourself.

Hands down, my most popular tutorial is on repairing your garbage disposal. Repairing them can be surprisingly easy and you can do it. I'll show you how make the repairs you need quickly and possibly save $180 or more in a plumbing service call. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the most common garbage disposal repairs and also tell you how to avoid clogs and slow draining situations.

And get familiar with how the garbage disposal is constructed with Anatomy of a Garbage Disposal for a graphic overview of the disposal's components. And if it's your sink that's causing trouble, see Unclogging a Sink.

Multiplying Onion (Shallot) Recipes Needed STAT!

27 Jul 2010 at 8:01pm

Marlingardener is experiencing a mixed blessing: "My good neighbor gave us a handful of multiplying onions, which I planted and ended up with about a peck basket full. I consider myself a good cook, innovative and creative, but I have no idea what to do with these things.

Please, can someone give me an idea of how to use them, a recipe or two or more, preferably more? The alternative is to set up a target and see who can throw the onions and hit the bull's eye. The prize will be a handful of multiplying onions to plant."

I have to confess, I picked this for Question of the Week because I too have a heapin' helping of shallots in my garden. So help us out here, ">what's you favorite way to use shallots?

And if you don't know what multiplier onions are or how to grow shallots, stay tuned; they are going to be the Featured Plant, on Friday.

August To-Do List for the Yard

29 Jul 2010 at 2:48am

"Your garden is hardier than you think and there are plenty of gardening tasks for August that will keep your flower and vegetable gardens going longer, as well as opportunities to get a head start on next year's garden plans," says Marie Iannotti. As incredible as it may sound, your August yard to-do list, depending on where you live, may include ordering spring bulbs!

I have to admit that I find Marie's August yard to-do list a bit inconvenient. August is the last hurrah for summer in my region, meaning I want to spend as much time at the beach as possible. Soon enough, autumn will be here and I'll be raking leaves!

What's a 10' x 10' Kitchen?

26 Jul 2010 at 5:34pm

If you answered:  a kitchen which is ten feet by ten feet, or 100 square feet, you're only halfway there.

The term 10' x 10' kitchen is often used as a convenient yardstick by cabinet manufacturers to symbolize a certain quantity, sizing, and even quality of kitchen cabinets.  Even though few houses really have 100 square foot kitchens anymore, this 10' x 10' kitchen cabinetry can be applied to bigger floor plans, if desired.

Most notably, this could represent an L-shaped floor plan of 200 square feet, with the 10' x 10' kitchen on one half of the 200 sq. feet and a kitchen table occupying the other half.

It can also be broken up into kitchens of the same size, but different layouts:  galley or corridor-style, or a one-wall layout.

Finally, the 10' x 10' kitchen does tend to represent a kind of contractor-grade set of cabinetry.  For the quoted price--and from what I've seen, they tend to hover around the $4,500 to $7,500 range--you get about 11 or 12 cabinets.
