Brita filters optimize your drinking water to be healthy and great tasting every time.

Each Brita filter helps reduce waste by substituting for an estimated 300 water bottles.
Enhance the Quality of Your Drinking Water
Brita Filters provide you the natural benefits of water by cutting down on unwanted substances. Specially engineered with an Ion Exchange Resin, these filters grab hold of impurities found in tap water like lead, copper, mercury, cadmium, and zinc to reduce their presence in your drinking water. The taste and odor of chlorine is decreased with a sponge-like filtration system, giving your water a clean, fresh taste every time.

Refresh Your Body and Mind
The health benefits of water are wide-ranging. Water helps keep your skin glowing, your mind working, and your body moving by aiding in metabolism, detoxification, and the transport of nutrients to all organs. Brita appreciates the importance of water to human wellbeing and has created products that enhance the quality of your drinking water so you get the nourishment you need in a fresh, healthful way.

Brita Filters should be changed every 40 gallons or two months and are not intended for use with microbiologically unsafe water.

Reduce Waste and Help the Environment
Using Brita filters is an effective way to reduce waste. Each filter equals about 300 water bottles, many of which end up in landfills. Even better, Brita filters can now be recycled thanks to Preserve's Gimme 5 Program.

Brita Pitcher Replacement Filters are universally compatible with all Brita Pitchers, including the Aqualux, Atlantis, Classic, Chrome, Deluxe, Grand, Riviera, Slim, and Space Saver pitcher models.

About The Brita Products Company

Heinz Hankammer, the company's creator, realized the need for enhancing the healthfulness and taste of potable water in 1966. He and his family first accomplished this goal under a pear tree in the family garden and have been working to carry out their mission ever since. The company is named after Heinz Hankhammer's daughter, Brita. As a corporation, Brita is committed to community and environmental outreach through projects like FilterForGood.com, a campaign dedicated to the reduction of bottled water waste.

5 out of 5 stars great product   July 28, 2010

Good unit price for 10 filters. Worth the price and shipping to get this value package.

5 out of 5 stars Filters for Brita pitcher   July 18, 2010

I purchased the Brita pitcher approximately 3 years ago. Since then, I have purchased many refill cartridges. I drink about a gallon of water per day, so my refills usually last approximately 8 or 9 weeks. I suppose that for someone who does not drink as much as I do, it would last many more weeks. The water tastes great and I feel confident many pollutants have been cleared by going thru the Brita filter. I recommend this product highly. BTW, I suggest you purchase the larger pitcher (I believe it holds 1/2 gallon) because the lid of the smaller size pitcher sometimes does not fit tight enough and can cause water spillage. Overall, I love my Brita filtration system!

5 out of 5 stars Much cheaper here and the water tastes better   July 17, 2010

This is the best price that I have found. These filters are such a great deal on this site and the only complaint I have is not knowing when to change the filter. Didn't the Brita filters use to have a dial that points out when to change to a new filter? I love Brita filters (and the jugs) for the taste (or the lack of it) that it gives my tap water. I use it all the time and when I accidentally drank a glass of unfiltered tap water, I could taste the difference!

5 out of 5 stars Who prices these things.   July 14, 2010

1-10 pricing makes no sense at all. The price here can be bested at a number of sites.

2 out of 5 stars Are these fresh filters?   July 5, 2010

I received the filters promptly but the first filter I used left the water black. Brita filters I have purchased in the past did not do this. I began to wonder if the filter was too old but did not see any expiration or "use by" dates on the product.

Lose the Plumber. Fix Your Garbage Disposal and Save $180

25 Jul 2010 at 10:10am

We love our favorite plumber but only when we really need to call them. Garbage disposals are the kitchen's workhorse but love to quit at the most inopportune times and many times you can repair or replace the disposal yourself.

Hands down, my most popular tutorial is on repairing your garbage disposal. Repairing them can be surprisingly easy and you can do it. I'll show you how make the repairs you need quickly and possibly save $180 or more in a plumbing service call. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the most common garbage disposal repairs and also tell you how to avoid clogs and slow draining situations.

And get familiar with how the garbage disposal is constructed with Anatomy of a Garbage Disposal for a graphic overview of the disposal's components. And if it's your sink that's causing trouble, see Unclogging a Sink.

Multiplying Onion (Shallot) Recipes Needed STAT!

27 Jul 2010 at 8:01pm

Marlingardener is experiencing a mixed blessing: "My good neighbor gave us a handful of multiplying onions, which I planted and ended up with about a peck basket full. I consider myself a good cook, innovative and creative, but I have no idea what to do with these things.

Please, can someone give me an idea of how to use them, a recipe or two or more, preferably more? The alternative is to set up a target and see who can throw the onions and hit the bull's eye. The prize will be a handful of multiplying onions to plant."

I have to confess, I picked this for Question of the Week because I too have a heapin' helping of shallots in my garden. So help us out here, ">what's you favorite way to use shallots?

And if you don't know what multiplier onions are or how to grow shallots, stay tuned; they are going to be the Featured Plant, on Friday.

August To-Do List for the Yard

29 Jul 2010 at 2:48am

"Your garden is hardier than you think and there are plenty of gardening tasks for August that will keep your flower and vegetable gardens going longer, as well as opportunities to get a head start on next year's garden plans," says Marie Iannotti. As incredible as it may sound, your August yard to-do list, depending on where you live, may include ordering spring bulbs!

I have to admit that I find Marie's August yard to-do list a bit inconvenient. August is the last hurrah for summer in my region, meaning I want to spend as much time at the beach as possible. Soon enough, autumn will be here and I'll be raking leaves!

What's a 10' x 10' Kitchen?

26 Jul 2010 at 5:34pm

If you answered:  a kitchen which is ten feet by ten feet, or 100 square feet, you're only halfway there.

The term 10' x 10' kitchen is often used as a convenient yardstick by cabinet manufacturers to symbolize a certain quantity, sizing, and even quality of kitchen cabinets.  Even though few houses really have 100 square foot kitchens anymore, this 10' x 10' kitchen cabinetry can be applied to bigger floor plans, if desired.

Most notably, this could represent an L-shaped floor plan of 200 square feet, with the 10' x 10' kitchen on one half of the 200 sq. feet and a kitchen table occupying the other half.

It can also be broken up into kitchens of the same size, but different layouts:  galley or corridor-style, or a one-wall layout.

Finally, the 10' x 10' kitchen does tend to represent a kind of contractor-grade set of cabinetry.  For the quoted price--and from what I've seen, they tend to hover around the $4,500 to $7,500 range--you get about 11 or 12 cabinets.
