5 out of 5 stars very nice table for small children   February 25, 2010

Good value for the price. A lot of fun for young children. Do not let larger children or adults set on it.

We bought it to our 2 years old son and 7 yeas old daughter. We have it indoor right now so they can use it while the warm weather is coming to town...I highly recommend this table to everybody. It only took 6 minutes to my husband to build it. If you need a table for your kiddos this is a must.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic picnic table!   February 8, 2010

Having a 2 year old and a 3 1/2 year old, I wanted to find a picnic table that would comfortably fit them, but also to fit a friend or two when we are having a playdate. This picnic table definitely fits the bill. You could fit 6 toddlers on this picnic table but I would think there would be less fights if you only tried to fit 4!! My children will be using this table for coloring and crafts as well as snack time and lunch time. Right now it is being used indoors but when the weather warms up, we will move it outdoors. And the set up was a snap! Took my husband less than 5 minutes to put it together and it required no tools, only snapping the pieces into grooves. The table top is not grooved so it will work great for coloring or other crafts we may do. There are only two cupholders, which works great for us, but if you were regularly using it for more than 2 kids, that might be an issue for you. The little umbrella is so cute and definitely a must have for our sunny backyard. All in all, I would recommend this table to anyone and am very satisfied with our purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Many uses for this picnic table   February 1, 2010
Grandy in Florida (Florida, USA)
I had been looking for a used Little Tikes picnic table for some time, finally decided to buy a new one for my grandson's birthday. My other grandchildren have one which is five years old and it is used daily, inside and outside on the deck. They love it.

My 3-year old grandson insisted on setting it up in the living room, complete with the umbrella open. Kids feel like this is their own special table for eating or art projects; just the right size for them, too. Based on experience, I know this is a great product, very durable, long-lasting, and good quality for the price.

5 out of 5 stars good choice   December 27, 2009

Repairing Drywall

14 Mar 2010 at 4:08am

A hole in your drywall is never fun, although it may have been caused by fun. Maybe it was from a wild party or maybe someone was making an emphatic "point."

Anyway you look at it (or through it), a hole is a hole and needs to get fixed.

Fortunately there are a few tricks I can show you in How to Repair a Large Hole in Drywall.

For smaller holes caused by doorknobs, kids, toys and other elements of home life there is the tutorial Repairing a Small Hole in Drywall

Don't have holes but just dents, popped nails or drywall tape? Then Tips for Repairing Drywall is the tutorial you need.

And after the repair, you'll have to paint the wall so take a read through Repairing Textured Walls and How to Paint a Room.

Featured Plant: Moss

18 Mar 2010 at 8:11pm

It's that time of year again, when I start to get questions from homeowners about how to remove moss. I can understand not wanting moss on the roof or the side of the house, but it makes a nice, low-maintenance lawn alternative and you can't beat it for adding character to rocks and stone walls.

I won't pretend to be an expert on the different types of moss. That's something I'm saving for my retirement. But I can encourage you to have an open mind about moss and cultivate the moss you have. And for those of you who just can't share my enthusiasm for moss, David Beaulieu has some ideas for getting rid of it.

How to Prune Red Maple Trees

19 Mar 2010 at 3:08am

One of the readers of About.com's Forestry site emailed Guide, Steve Nix with a problem. "I have a red maple that I believe may need pruning," says the reader. "I'm an avid tree grower, and have done my share of pruning, but this tree has me stumped because of it's unusual growth." Photos of the problematic red maple tree in question (posted in the Forestry Forum) reveal why deciding how to prune it will hardly be straightforward.

Most red maple trees, writes Steve, "if in good health and free to grow, need very little pruning." But this is no ordinary red maple tree, as the branching pattern is less than ideal. Not to worry, though. The experts in the Forestry Forum who tackle this question help the reader figure out how to prune this red maple tree by zeroing in on the best growth to keep as a leader.

Concrete Flooring Or...?

18 Mar 2010 at 10:00pm

Maybe I haven't had enough caffeine.  But I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this one.

Daltile's Concrete Connection™ line of tiles (Dear Daltile:  Not that I don't like it!  Sincerely, Me).  Let's start with what it is, first of all:

It is glazed porcelain tile with the look of concrete.

Concrete has traditionally been a functional, non-beautiful surface used in factory floors and sidewalks.

Then, at some point, the aesthetes got their mitts on concrete and turned it into an apparently lovely, desirable surface for residential flooring and kitchen counters.

So, this cheap material has been elevated to Beautiful Home status.  Fine.

But now we have porcelain tile, which for thousands of years has achieved the pinnacle of beauty, masquerading as a lowly material--concrete?  Is this regressive?
