5 out of 5 stars very nice table for small children   February 25, 2010

Good value for the price. A lot of fun for young children. Do not let larger children or adults set on it.

5 out of 5 stars Great buy!   February 16, 2010

We bought it to our 2 years old son and 7 yeas old daughter. We have it indoor right now so they can use it while the warm weather is coming to town...I highly recommend this table to everybody. It only took 6 minutes to my husband to build it. If you need a table for your kiddos this is a must.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic picnic table!   February 8, 2010

Having a 2 year old and a 3 1/2 year old, I wanted to find a picnic table that would comfortably fit them, but also to fit a friend or two when we are having a playdate. This picnic table definitely fits the bill. You could fit 6 toddlers on this picnic table but I would think there would be less fights if you only tried to fit 4!! My children will be using this table for coloring and crafts as well as snack time and lunch time. Right now it is being used indoors but when the weather warms up, we will move it outdoors. And the set up was a snap! Took my husband less than 5 minutes to put it together and it required no tools, only snapping the pieces into grooves. The table top is not grooved so it will work great for coloring or other crafts we may do. There are only two cupholders, which works great for us, but if you were regularly using it for more than 2 kids, that might be an issue for you. The little umbrella is so cute and definitely a must have for our sunny backyard. All in all, I would recommend this table to anyone and am very satisfied with our purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Many uses for this picnic table   February 1, 2010
Grandy in Florida (Florida, USA)
I had been looking for a used Little Tikes picnic table for some time, finally decided to buy a new one for my grandson's birthday. My other grandchildren have one which is five years old and it is used daily, inside and outside on the deck. They love it.

My 3-year old grandson insisted on setting it up in the living room, complete with the umbrella open. Kids feel like this is their own special table for eating or art projects; just the right size for them, too. Based on experience, I know this is a great product, very durable, long-lasting, and good quality for the price.

5 out of 5 stars good choice   December 27, 2009

We use our indoor and its a great place for crarts, coloring, playing with playdo or eating lunch.

Geez...Water Heater on the Fritz?

6 Mar 2010 at 7:14am

If your water heater is on the fritz and you're not sure what to do, then Troubleshooting a Tank Type Water Heater is what you want to read. From problems such as not enough hot water to a leaking water heater, it's covered.

Hot water virtually on-demand is a luxury we've come to take for granted. But like anything else, it takes energy to run. So in the tutorial Water Heater Tips for Saving Energy and Operating Costs I'll explain how to easily save water, energy and money in your monthly utility bills.

And when it's time to replace that old water heater with a nice new, energy efficient unit, you'll just love it. And it's really not that hard to do. In the tutorial Replacing a Water Heater I'll walk you through the process, step-by-step. Doesn't matter if it's a gas or electric water heater. I'll show you how.

Is There Such a Thing as Good Garden Design?

10 Mar 2010 at 7:58pm

A garden designer once told me that good garden design was a lot like pornography: You can't define it, but you know it when you see it. Certainly good garden design is subjective. My tastes seem to change daily, so my garden's design is constantly evolving. I do favor a certain sense of order, but my plants usually have their own way, despite my best efforts.

I was at a garden talk recently and the speaker was a garden designer who specializes in naturalistic garden design. He feels that a successful garden design is one where you don't even realize the space has been designed. I'm not sure that's ever going to be my aesthetic. I like natural areas, but I love billowing boarders and flowering hedges. David Beaulieu has an interesting piece on the evolution of garden design, from geometric order to cottage gardens, sweeping lawns and minimalism. Do you think you're garden aesthetic can be categorized, or do you find yourself constantly experimenting.

Dill Weed

11 Mar 2010 at 2:08am

Dill weed is attractive enough to qualify as "edible landscaping." Like the variegated sage plants, for example, it serves double duty, offering visual appeal prior to being harvested as a culinary herb. Other contributions of dill weed to the landscape include its use: In Butterfly Gardens As a fragrant plant To attract beneficial insects

Dill weed is de rigueur for butterfly gardens. For, as Marie Iannotti points out, they are a favorite food source for black swallowtail caterpillars.

As for fragrance, About.com's Gardening Guide notes that the "entire plant is extremely fragrant."

Finally, Marie observes that dill weed attracts lacewings and syrphid fly adults, which "will feed on the pollen and lay their eggs nearby. Their larvae feed on aphids."

If the above facts have convinced you to try this herb in the landscape, consult Marie's article on growing dill weed to learn more.

What Does a Refinished Bathtub Really Look Like?

10 Mar 2010 at 9:00pm

It's a question I get every so often.  The more important question:  How long will this reglazing last?  Even a blindfolded DIYer in the throes of caffeine withdrawal can "refinish" a bathtub.  But will it look any good in a year?  Or in this case, a week later?

I have tried to portray a typical refinished bathtub in pictures.  With this exercise, I quickly learned the limits of my amateur photography skills when it comes to showing fine details.  Still...

If you want it all summed up:  Pretty good.  First time I saw the tub, I didn't know it had been refinished.

While you're at it, check out our complete library of articles about bathtub refinishing.
