Product Description
The Double Hammock by Eagles Nest Outfitters is about the size of a softball and allows backpackers the luxury of hammock camping without the bulk and weight. Technical users appreciate the functionality and versitilty, while recreational users will enjoy the perfect nest of the single hammock. Holding up to 400 lbs, the Double Nest is any backpacker's dream. With two-feet of extra width than the SingleNest, the DoubleNest allows room for one, two, three, or however you decide to pack 400lbs. The DoubleNest seats more than one person comfortably and is essential for family adventures. This portable hammock is made with high strength breathable nylon that will dry quickly. It also features strong holding line and high grade interlocking stitches. The carabiner clips are included. If you have hooks placed on a wall, tree or beam, the hanging distance needs to be between 8.5 ft and 9 ft 10 in and it will be very easy to hang this hammock. Otherwise, you will need a hanging strap system, which allows you to hang your hammock virtually anywhere and between far apart posts or trees.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely outstanding!   July 25, 2010
Miles Erickson (Seattle, WA USA)
My wife and I have spent many nights camping in a double hammock that I purchased in Thailand about six years ago. Last night, we tried our new DoubleNest.

What we love about it:
+ It's huge! Although we usually prefer to snuggle up, this is the first hammock we've tried that truly allows the option of sleeping side by side on our backs.
+ It's tiny! It is made of parachute fabric, and parachutes are meant to be packed.
+ The built-in carabiners and the (separately purchased) SlapStraps Pro make setting it up and taking it down a 3-minute process. We used to spend embarrassing amounts of time slinging ropes around trees and tying creative knots, and now it's almost instantaneous.
+ Like any hammock, it allows us to camp in places that are completely off the beaten path, without needing a trail or a campsite or even a patch of level ground.
+ This hammock has plenty of space to move around, both laterally and lengthwise. It is very stable for those occasions when you and your partner are not necessarily asleep. It would be a phenomenal hammock to bring along on a wilderness honeymoon!

I think we are going to bring this with us just about everywhere, even on day hikes. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for a family of 4!   July 15, 2010

I purchased this hammock for fathers day for my husband. I looked at many types and decided to go with the ENO. I scored big points on this one. Im happy I didnt buy a cheaper version. The fabric is great and the bag you will never lose b/c it all folds up into itself very small and easy to find a spot to store when not in use. It easily fits my husband who is 6'3ft, son(3yrs) and myself-and growing belly!! Awesome hammock not to mention all the colors they come in!! I would definetly recommend the ENO straps to go along with this hammock. Easy as 1,2,3 and its up and time to relax.

Great hammock! Very comfortable for one person or two. Since buying it, it has become my girlfriend's favorite place to lay and relax together. Packs down so small to is great for backpacking. Going on a 9 day backpacking trip through Eastern Oregon next week and am so glad I have this hammock to use!

5 out of 5 stars Double nest   June 11, 2010

I have owned both the single nest and the double nest I love both of them. Really well made and strong. I am close to 250 lbs and my Lab over a hundred and we both have been in it at once with no worry of failure. I bought the slap strap pros to go with this and they work wonderfully as well. To maintain optimum comfort try to keep the side angles close to 30 degrees each and lay slightly diagonal. I will take this hammock everywhere I go!

I was skeptical that this hammock could hold my size/weight (6'-295). it holds me just fine. in fact it is big enough that I can cover myself with the excess material. It is very strong and sturdy. My next concern was the heat. I live in San Antonio, Texas where it is hot and humid. Looking at the picture of the hammock on amazon, it looks much thicker than it really is. For me, this was a good thing. The material is not thick and you will not get hot in a hot, humid climate. Again, while the material is not thick, it is very very strong. I am glad I purchased this hammock and I am enjoying it. The carabiners that came with the hammock are also strong and sturdy. I have not had to make any modifications to this hammock and it folds up easily and for storage back into the storage pouch that is sewn onto the side of the hammock.

Lose the Plumber. Fix Your Garbage Disposal and Save $180

25 Jul 2010 at 10:10am

We love our favorite plumber but only when we really need to call them. Garbage disposals are the kitchen's workhorse but love to quit at the most inopportune times and many times you can repair or replace the disposal yourself.

Hands down, my most popular tutorial is on repairing your garbage disposal. Repairing them can be surprisingly easy and you can do it. I'll show you how make the repairs you need quickly and possibly save $180 or more in a plumbing service call. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the most common garbage disposal repairs and also tell you how to avoid clogs and slow draining situations.

And get familiar with how the garbage disposal is constructed with Anatomy of a Garbage Disposal for a graphic overview of the disposal's components. And if it's your sink that's causing trouble, see Unclogging a Sink.

Multiplying Onion (Shallot) Recipes Needed STAT!

27 Jul 2010 at 8:01pm

Marlingardener is experiencing a mixed blessing: "My good neighbor gave us a handful of multiplying onions, which I planted and ended up with about a peck basket full. I consider myself a good cook, innovative and creative, but I have no idea what to do with these things.

Please, can someone give me an idea of how to use them, a recipe or two or more, preferably more? The alternative is to set up a target and see who can throw the onions and hit the bull's eye. The prize will be a handful of multiplying onions to plant."

I have to confess, I picked this for Question of the Week because I too have a heapin' helping of shallots in my garden. So help us out here, ">what's you favorite way to use shallots?

And if you don't know what multiplier onions are or how to grow shallots, stay tuned; they are going to be the Featured Plant, on Friday.

August To-Do List for the Yard

29 Jul 2010 at 2:48am

"Your garden is hardier than you think and there are plenty of gardening tasks for August that will keep your flower and vegetable gardens going longer, as well as opportunities to get a head start on next year's garden plans," says Marie Iannotti. As incredible as it may sound, your August yard to-do list, depending on where you live, may include ordering spring bulbs!

I have to admit that I find Marie's August yard to-do list a bit inconvenient. August is the last hurrah for summer in my region, meaning I want to spend as much time at the beach as possible. Soon enough, autumn will be here and I'll be raking leaves!

What's a 10' x 10' Kitchen?

26 Jul 2010 at 5:34pm

If you answered:  a kitchen which is ten feet by ten feet, or 100 square feet, you're only halfway there.

The term 10' x 10' kitchen is often used as a convenient yardstick by cabinet manufacturers to symbolize a certain quantity, sizing, and even quality of kitchen cabinets.  Even though few houses really have 100 square foot kitchens anymore, this 10' x 10' kitchen cabinetry can be applied to bigger floor plans, if desired.

Most notably, this could represent an L-shaped floor plan of 200 square feet, with the 10' x 10' kitchen on one half of the 200 sq. feet and a kitchen table occupying the other half.

It can also be broken up into kitchens of the same size, but different layouts:  galley or corridor-style, or a one-wall layout.

Finally, the 10' x 10' kitchen does tend to represent a kind of contractor-grade set of cabinetry.  For the quoted price--and from what I've seen, they tend to hover around the $4,500 to $7,500 range--you get about 11 or 12 cabinets.
